Soul invitation - Torch Bearer

Why are we here?

Is there only one answer or are there many, scattered widely and generously across the earth and beyond - waiting - waiting- in silence- waiting - for the wandering eye to fix itself on sand or sea, sky, grass, and trees, to gaze until some kind of constellation can be drawn to connect meaning to purpose and purpose to heart? Until the embers glow to the point of fire in your heart. Carry your fired heart like a torch. Become a torchbearer into the places you inhabit and gather in the instants and spaces that remind others to glow.

In poetry, in prose, in song, in the everyday living, gather your fire, light your torch. Light it in all the wild things you do. Light your fire in response to tragedy, to trauma, to discontent, to fear.

Ignite your fire as lovers would. Bring your tears, your ancestral lines, your prayers, your hopes, your victories, your blessings and light up your torch. Light up your heart as the torch as the fruit of your true soul work. Invite your elders, your lost friends, your family, your beloved community and invite them to turn on their fires too.Let´s touch each other, with warm hearts and lit up souls to do the work of freedom and joy.

The hungry voices will tell you to stay dim and to wait. Not now they will say. Stay here in this cold, it is unsafe to light a fire, perhaps just this light match will do the work. They will plot for you to stay where you are, hoping for another match to light up your world.

Notice when the shadow voices grow nervous when you dance, and sing and bear your torch, when they feel your heart may start to soar. Notice how they want your fear and your nervousness and your complaints to keep you like the little match girl in the dark.

Let´s tear our worlds apart to see the gold in each moment, to find the embers glowing underneath the apparent dead black rocks of a once lit fire… to capture the gems in our listening, in our speaking, in our soul depths.

As you listen to this audio, I invite you to find some ambers here, to find your gem, to see the gold, to light your fire and echo this light into the world.

If we think at it as if this tuning fork is our heart, how can you point it, ground it in its highest frequency of inspiration; how can you listen to it when it is starving for nourishment and fill it up with community, with synergy, with Our Quiet,

Our Prayer

Our Wonder

Our Yearning

Our Yielding

Our Asking

Our Truth

Our Heart

Our vision

And as you dive into this soul invitation, a quote from the beautiful Mojave american poet and language activist, Natalie Diaz:

“There are wild flowers in my desert

which take up to twenty years to bloom.

The seeds sleep like geodes beneath hot feldspar sand

until a flash flood bolts the arroyo, lifting them

in its copper current, opens them with memory—

they remember what their god whispered

into their ribs: Wake up and ache for your life.”

― Natalie Díaz
