Common Ground : Set in Concrete
A meandering into the poetry of space and the surprising beauty of concrete.
Some form of concrete has been with us as a species for a terribly long time. Part of our shared web of expression and connection is through what we have built: places that we gather, spaces for art, learning, worship. It's played a huge role in the development of our collective history.
Could it also be a reminder of our true nature?
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
